Reading Notes: Fairie Queen - Britomart Part B
From Stories from the Faerie Queene by Mary Macleod
- More visual/setting description than a lot of previous stories
- Nonsense plot like most other stories
- Personified traits (sins? virtues? temptations?)
- Loving the woman-rescuing-woman plot (even though rescuer is disguised as a man)
- Golden hair, small waist referred to as beautiful
- "Wicked hand"
- Seriously low suspense.
- Story within a story!
- Female friendship regarded as normal and desirable

- "Grown great from small seeds" alliteration!
- Hidden identity --> mistaken identities
- Women are to be beautiful and faithful, men should be protective.
- How did Britomart get so good at fighting? What?
- Love the multiple names. Britomart is herself, "the princess," "the stranger knight" etc
- Story titles reveal everything about the story.
- So many adjectives
- Not a lot of actual dialogue. More "he explained that..."
- Ending hints at another story
