Week 2 Reading Overview
My tentative plan for the semester goes as follows:
CLASSICAL and/or BIBLICAL units
Week 3: Cupid and Psyche
Week 4: Saints and Animals
MIDDLE EASTERN and/or INDIAN units
Week 5: Twenty-Two Goblins
Week 6: Santal Folklore
ASIAN and/or AFRICAN units
Week 7: West African Folktales
Week 9: Folklore of Laos
nnnnnnnnnnn
NATIVE AMERICAN units
Week 10: Alaskan Legends
Week 11: Pacific Northwest
BRITISH and/or CELTIC units
Week 12: Celtic Fairy Tales
Week 13: Faerie Queen - Britomart
I am most excited about the folktales and legends of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, mostly because I am from that part of the country, but I haven't actually had that much exposure to the folklore. I am also really looking forward to the British/Celtic fairy tales, since I loved those as a kid and will probably enjoy revisiting them from a different perspective. I am not sure yet which unit I'll focus on for my storybook, but I plan to pick up extra reading assignments if any theme catches my attention.
