It's difficult to narrow down my favorite places in the world. That said, I feel happiest on mountains and hills - I'll share a few of the best ones I've seen.

In the spring of 2016, I took my first solo road trip, got my first speeding ticket, barely slept, and ended up with the flu. Before all of that happened, however, I had a really magical morning in the Texas panhandle. I had arrived in Amarillo around the time it was getting dark, and since I didn't have money for a motel, I had to find somewhere to camp. I ended up getting back on the highway, and found my way to Palo Duro Canyon. I parked in the dark and went to sleep in my car. The next morning, I woke up and realized that I was right near the edge of a cliff looking out into the canyon. It was a cool, quiet, foggy morning and I drank my coffee surrounded by deer.

A few months later, I drove up the West coast and one of my favorite places I stopped in was Oregon. The highway winds along a cliff above the ocean for a large portion of the drive and everywhere I stopped it was sunny, windy, and sandy or green.

The best place I know and the last I'll mention here is a small mountain called Near Point, just outside of my hometown . It's a short but intense hike to the top and if you like sunshine, fresh air, wild berries, and views, then it is completely worth the trouble.
I think this is a first for me: a sentence that contains both "magic" and "Texas panhandle" ... wonderful, Natalie! And that picture of Lola in the out-of-doors is lovely. We live in Eugene, Oregon for a year when I was little, and I loved it all: mountains and hills, ocean and rivers! :-)
